PE

At Northleaze we understand the vital role that PE plays in children's health and mental well-being.  Our aim is to help all children to develop a love of sport and physical activity that they will carry with them into adulthood.

As well as our regular, timetabled PE lessons (details of the curriculum below), the Daily Mile is one of the most important ways in which we develop pupils' physical health, ensuring every child from Reception to Year 6 is encouraged to run or jog for a sustained period of time each day.  We are also very proud that, as soon as it became possible, we reintroduced our weekly swimming lessons, taking pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 for a 10-week block of sessions each year.

Please see below for the intention behind our curriculum:

Please visit the 'Termly Curriculum Overviews' page for information about the sport each class develops each term.

This year we will be working closely with Bristol Sport's Forever Sport Primary School PE and Sports Coaching Programme, funded from our PE and Sport Premium budget.  On Monday and Friday afternoons coaches from Bristol Sport will be coming into school to work with pupils and staff, modelling lessons and providing ongoing professional development for all teaching staff.
