Vision and Values
"Let your light shine."
Inspired by the words from Matthew 5:16, our vision encourages every member of our school community to let their unique light shine. We believe that everyone—children, staff, families, and visitors—has something valuable to offer, and we aim to nurture a culture where kindness, respect, and individuality are celebrated.
Our Values
At Northleaze Church of England Primary School, our values are at the heart of everything we do. Chosen in collaboration with children, staff and governors, these six core values guide our learning, relationships, and personal development. Each term, we focus on one value, exploring its meaning and encouraging children to live it out in their daily lives. These values are woven into our curriculum, assemblies, and everyday interactions, helping our pupils grow into thoughtful, responsible, and well-rounded individuals.
- Term 1 – Responsibility
We encourage children to take ownership of their actions, learning, and choices. They learn to be accountable, reliable, and to understand the impact they have on others and the world around them. - Term 2 – Creativity
Pupils are inspired to think imaginatively, explore new ideas, and express themselves through a wide range of subjects and experiences. We celebrate innovation and originality in all areas of learning. - Term 3 – Respect
We foster a culture of mutual respect—towards ourselves, others, and our environment. Children learn to value diversity, listen with empathy, and treat everyone with kindness and fairness. - Term 4 – Compassion
Through stories, reflection, and action, children develop empathy and a desire to help others. We encourage acts of kindness and support, both within our school and in the wider community. - Term 5 – Resilience
Pupils are supported to persevere through challenges, learn from mistakes, and develop a growth mindset. We help them build emotional strength and confidence to face life’s ups and downs. - Term 6 – Friendship
We celebrate the importance of positive relationships, teamwork, and trust. Children learn how to be good friends—supportive, inclusive, and respectful of differences.
Our School Aims
In an ever-changing world, our ambition is to nurture children who are compassionate, creative, and resilient. We want our pupils to grow as individuals who value friendship, show respect for themselves and others, and embrace their responsibility—both for their own learning and for the sustainability of the world around them.
We aim to equip every child with the skills, confidence, and character needed to thrive in life, to face challenges with courage, and to contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.
We achieve this through:
- Setting high expectations for all learners, encouraging ambition and excellence
- Empowering children to take ownership of their learning and personal growth
- Using inspiring and effective teaching strategies, supported by meaningful feedback
- Providing rich learning experiences, both in school and beyond, including the creative use of technology
- Establishing clear and consistent expectations, shared across our school community
- Working in strong partnership with parents, carers, the wider community, and the Lighthouse Schools Partnership
- Celebrating success, recognising the achievements and contributions of every member of our school
